Mayor of Rural Cooks meets with Minister Planas

As a spokesperson for her colleagues, Lera has presented demands and proposals to the Minister of Agriculture, Press and Food.

Luis Alberto Lera, a chef and leader of the Rural Chefs, met with Luis Planas, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, to discuss the visibility of rural cuisine. This was the first time that Planas and Lera had met since the latter's appointment, and the Minister congratulated him and praised his defence of a group that is committed to sustainable gastronomy, the care of local products and the defence of Spanish products.

Luis Planas reminded the audience of the responsibility that chefs have to promote changes in people's eating habits towards healthier diets and more responsible consumption. In this sense, according to the Minister, rural cuisine is already sustainable in itself.

For his part, the Castilian-Leonese chef informed him of the demands of rural chefs to improve their work in particularly sensitive areas. It is worth remembering that Luis Alberto Lera was elected the first Mayor of Rural Chefs in April 2024, as part of the Terra celebrations. In addition, in 2022 Lera received the Spanish Food Defence Award from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for his promotion of Spanish products in his gastronomic proposal.
